V10.1 - Report designer error on a remote Configuration tool

Madimant

Build Number	Database	OS
3735	MySQL	Win 11

What I did…

Installed the Remote Configuration tool on my Laptop, changed the folder access and copied the requested folders/files to Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM/directory ie. KendiUI, Font Awesome, Line Icons and the RD folder.

Tested, and the Configuration Tool works fine with all functions except Report Designer - error 404

What I expected to happen

Report Designer to open reports for editing

What happened

==============

HTTP Status 404 – Not Found
Type Status Report
Message The requested resource [/AwareIM/RD/rd_2009202694029.html] is not available
Description The origin server did not find a current representation for the target resource or is not willing to disclose that one exists.
Apache Tomcat/11.0.6

==============

When I open a report for editing, I get an error 404
On investigation, I see that the temp files (rd_2009202694029.html & .js) were created on my Local Laptop in the RD folder
But when the Report Designer loads the temp files, it looks for them on the server
If I copy the files created (rd_2009202694029.html & .js) in the local RD folder to the server RD directory, and refresh, it works
I tried changing HostServer to ‘localhost’ as well as ‘system.server.com ’, but no difference

My UIconfig.props file

WebAppBase=AwareIM
WebServer=system.server.com
WebServerPort=8883
WebServerProtocol=http
HostServer=localhost
HostServerPort=9000
HttpServerConnection=true

A couple of questions to you:
1) Are you running on a Mac?
2) After you start the Config Tool go to the View/System Output menu item. There should be a couple of entries there:

“Install location URL is:… ”

“Application root is ,,,”

What do they read?

Madimant

I’m running on a Windows laptop

The Output File

===============

Setting Edge Browser

Eclipse instance location is: file:/C:/Program Files (x86)/Aware Config Tool/ConfigurationTool/ConfigTool/eclipse/workspace/

Install location URL is: file:/C:/Program Files (x86)/Aware Config Tool/ConfigurationTool/ConfigTool/eclipse/

Application root is C:/Program Files (x86)/Aware Config Tool/ConfigurationTool/ConfigTool/eclipse/../..

LVP:C:\Program Files (x86)\Aware Config Tool\ConfigurationTool\ConfigTool\eclipse\LastValues.props

Setting Jasper Reports Compile property to C:/Program Files (x86)/Aware Config Tool/ConfigurationTool/ConfigTool/eclipse/../../lib/jasperreports-7.0.3.jar

Try changing this entry in the UIConfig.props:

WebServer=localhost

rather than:

WebServer=system.server.com

Madimant

When changing webserver get

‘Error establishing connection with the server (using URL http://localhost:8883/AwareIM)’

And Configuration Tool won’t open…

We will fix this in the next build

A new build 3742 has now been released. It has support for new properties in the UIConfig.props file. These properties should point to the URL where you are copying the files required for the RD, These properties are:
- RD_WebServer"

- RD_WebServerPort"

- RD_WebServerProtocol"

- RD_WebAppBase

So if you are copying RD files to the AwareIM/Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM/RD directory on the machine that runs the Config, Tool remotely, you will need to add the following entries to the uiConfig.props:

RD_WebServer=localhost
RD_WebServerPort=8080
RD_WebServerProtocol=http
RD_WebAppBase=AwareIM

Madimant

Thank you for the update and config file info, but I still got an issue.

I added the 4 lines to the uiConfig.prop file and ran Configuration Tools.

RD_WebServer=localhost
RD_WebServerPort=8080
RD_WebServerProtocol=http
RD_WebAppBase=AwareIM

Getting error

============================

Hmmm… can’t reach this page

localhost refused to connect.

================================

I can see the following in the System Output…
Start RDV 1791292371420
RDDesignGenerator: initializing static
RDDesignGenerator: finished initializing static, base URL is http://localhost:8080/AwareIM
RDDesignGenerator: getUrl called
RDDesignGenerator: returning url: http://localhost:8080/AwareIM/RD/rd_06102026171251.html
Setting URL into the browser
Setting listeners to the browser
Finished initialising controls
End RDV 1791292371442

Any ideas?

Madimant

OK, I managed to get it working…
I copied all the Tomcat folder files across and started the Tomcat server.

I do have to do this manually every time I want to use the Tool
