I was mildly successful with this.
But an issue I have now and I’m not sure if Vlad can adjust this, is that an export Excel XLSX only sends the current page, whereas the CSV export sends the entire set of records in the query, regardless of visual page size.

If 1000 records should show in the grid, and I’m viewing it in pages of 20, Excel will get only the first 20 records, CSV will get all thousand records.
Yes, I have made dedicated grids that return/show 1000 records, with the trade-off of it being now very sluggish, but at least a user can get all of the records exported.
But it would be nice not to have to do this and have multiple queries to maintain.
