This is the issue I am seeing and the prompt I provided to MS Copilot to help me troubleshoot it. Its response is interesting and I suggest you run the prompt if you want to get involved in this. Much of Copilot’s response was over my head and the steps to validate or reproduce the issue are difficult. The TLDR is below:
Me to Copilot:
My aware IM web app is experiencing an issue in which a user creates a number of records that subequently vanish. I note that in each case, the user was using the Chrome browser and when switched to Edge, the issue is not duplicated. Might this be some issue in which Chrome is caching the transactions then not committing? In normal operation, when a record is added and visible in the list of records, each record is committed, so this seams unlikely. Might it be a similar issue with the MySql database? Nothing has changed to cause this issue so I suspect some change in an external component like the chrome engine.
Copilot:
Chrome is reusing a stale session (MOST LIKELY)
Chrome aggressively optimizes session reuse. AwareIM sessions are fragile — if Chrome restores a tab from memory, AwareIM may:
- Reuse an expired session
- Reuse a session tied to a different user
- Reuse a session whose transaction context is invalid
- Lose the “pending changes” context after a tab restore
This can cause:
- Records created under a session that AwareIM later invalidates
- Records created in a “phantom session” that AwareIM rolls back
- Records visible in the grid (client-side) but never committed server-side
Edge uses a different session‑restore model, which is why the issue doesn’t reproduce there.
Chrome 124–126 introduced aggressive BFCache (Back/Forward Cache)
This is a major change. AwareIM is not BFCache‑safe. *Kingsley’s note: really? Says who?
Chrome may restore a page from BFCache with:
- No valid server session
- No valid transaction context
- No valid Kendo widget state
This can absolutely cause “records appear then vanish.”
</Copilot>
Note that the records are being adding in the standard Add Record action from the list - no process. So far, it has only affected 2 business objects but it seems it could impact any, though the two impacted objects call for more records to be added, like 8 or more. Any feedback is appreciated and do speak up if you have experienced this. Also, if @aware_support has the time, please call BS on anything from Copilot. Note that the full answer from Copilot offered a number of other hypotheses, some of which pointed to AwareIM but I think Copilot gets over its head quickly on AwareIM issues.
