Selected record from query has no values

I have a query where all of the records show up fine. However, when I run a process on one of the records, it comes up null. I.e. when I do a "DISPLAY MESSAGE" of any of the attributes of the record, I get just a blank popup.

Possibly relevant info:

External view, based on a Postgres tables
Added a random is to column to the view so I could use it as a primary key.

Did you define a primary key when setting up an external object?

Yes, I did. It's an external view, and I made a random field in the view that I'm using as a primary key.

Something is probably not right with the primary key. Check output of the server for any clues. Also check the rule log whether the process receives the id of the input object when it starts.
