he jinxed me

over a month ago he phones me and said he wrote a long post on the forum to me... and "the forum lost it". yeah, right.
then, in the next day or so, it happened to me.
as i'm uploading attachments, and submitting, and previewing, etc. etc., all of a sudden I will get a LOGON page for the forum.

There will be no draft to continue with. Unless you think quick and do some BACK operations (and TRY to copy/paste your message), you'll never get it back.
And we all know how much fun it is writing a SECOND long detailed post.

The new AI in phpBB actually does an assessment on what you are about to post and decides if it is worth reading I guess. 😃

The forum and the documentation could be put together into one more interactive and more easily cross reference-able platform. It would really help in finding help about a specific feature (for example).

Its annoying and maybe it's time for a more modern forum platform.

With Vlad's support and blessing, i would be willing to lend time to setup 'flarum'. (https://flarum.org)

There is a gotcha... however i still think its still a good idea and its FREE! (i am a sucker for all things FREE)

I think we just need a few people to help maintain the platform and we can then all benefit from a more modern platform framework.

I would suggest

[1 or 2] System Administrator/(s) (initially) to maintain the infrastructure and software.
[1 or 2] Moderator/(s) (Initially) to trim and maintain the topics (and eventual keyboard arguments).

Haven't looked at the Links in this thread - but I think its Mandatory for any Forum software (moving fwd) to have a @PersonID functionality to tag someone in a msg and them get notified.

Over the last few days this has become very annoying. I think it took me 4 times to get one post entered and sent because it kept returning to the login screen.

This discussion though reminds me of what seems to happen on the Magic user forums. About every year and a half a thread gets started that XXX brand forum software sucks and it is time to get a new one.

I realized that we need a better way to mark/tag/flag a thread that has something interesting in it - so I can easily find it in the future. No sense in copy/pasting a tip and putting it somewhere else. Would be nice to have a list of favorites/saved posts... like this one:

Every time I want to post, it takes me back to login.
It's kind of annoying.
I have tried to use Chrome, Opera, Firefox.
I had some sites with this behavior when were routed through CloudFlare.
