RLJB wroteWhen looking at the AwareIM Control Panel, you can go View > Server Output
You get a tabbed form open below and you can watch as text flies past super fast - too fast to read, this isn't much use. You can't copy it, you can't download it, etc
How do you send this output to a txt file?
Thanks.
You can fiddle about with the LOGGER.PROPS file in the AwareIM/bin folder.
There are a few issues with this though - if you use the UI to change the logging settings it will overwrite any changes that you make to the LOGGER.PROPS file. That includes launching the logger window.
I played about with it for a while and put some pointers in this post. I was trying to get it to write to a database instead of text files as I was using a headless server but I gave up due to the version of log4j in AIM not being able to handle certain special characters (quotes I think) and also the database connection not being available immediately (I think - it was a while ago).
Theres a good tutorial on log4j at https://www.tutorialspoint.com/log4j/index.htm and if you dig about with the LOGGER.PROPS file it is reasonably straight forward. And back up your logger.props file before you change it and keep a copy of the updated one - it will get overwritten when you update AIM.
I'd really like to see the logging functionality updated in a future version - to put everything into the UI ideally as this would stop the LOGGER.PROPS overwrite issue.
