Empty text not showing.

Hi,
Empty text included in choices is not showing in display.
Any ideas?

Why would you want that? What's the context.

Sometimes my choices include "None" (which can be searched for) or I tick "Other values allowed

That's why 🙂

If I had "First", "Second" and "Third" as choices...and "First" was always going to be the case until later in time, I'd want to have the empty text "First" as the default choice that would be committed when I saved.

It would eliminate a lot of redundancy for my part anyway...probably not enough to warrant for others. Would be nice to have another check box titled "Make empty text default choice" 🙂

i noticed that at least 2 months ago. v8.0 I think
I had to create a choice "(none)" for users to select when they needed to set a value to something other than the pick list.
Originally, I made an app that had 5 choices, for example.
Then the user changed his mind and said that they should be able to unassign any previous choice - hence, the ability to "show empty choice".
but it didn't work.
figured it was a bug and would get fixed eventually.

I agree that in that context a "deselect" option is always needed.

Just playing with this at the moment and it seems logical (at least when I am working with it) to have to fill the Empty text" field on this.

Consider an invoicing / delivery address situation:

Invoice Address - look up to addresses for the Contact
Delivery Address - Another look up

If you just had an empty field on the form it would look like it was not going to a delivery address, but if you set the Empty Text field to be "Same as delivery address" then the form maintains some logical consistency in that it contains a value. In using this it has gotten rid of a lot of Yes/No switches that had been controlling field visibility.
