Update Location Data using a map

I am working on an equipment tagging app for a customer of mine and I am wondering when mgeolocation is for some reason not an option due to poor signal, is it possible to use the google map in awareim to update location information of an object?

I have looked into this some amd you can use either HTML5 geolocation through a browser or IPgeo. Ie you get the location lat/long via a JS script which you use to populate a BO. I don't have any code snippets etc left unfortunately (did a proof of concept) by try googling geolocation browser/IP.

Please note though that the accuracy or browser/IP lat/long is not as accurate as native gps capture.

I can certainly tell you not to relay on Browser/IP address for a location. I had done some tests before and you get strange results, especially in cases when IP is dynamic. Once I was in a hotel in Florida and it was telling me I was in Michigan.

For accuracy you must get the data from the onboard GPS device either on Mobile or tablet or notebook.
If you are moving even Hybrid apps using Phonegap will not give an accurate result. You can only get the most accurate result via Native app on Android and iOS. I'm currently building Native app, and that was one of the reason I walked away from Hybrid app to Native.
So, if accuracy is essential, you need to talk to the GPS chip directly. 😃
