Have Aware ignore HTML in String?

I have a field in a table that has & and when displaying in a query, depending on what is after the & I get funny characters. How can I tell aware to just treat the data as text and not as html?

if its in an HTML field, then it has to be REPLACED to a & , doesn't it.

good luck telling my users they have to type &amp each time. BUt, perhaps I can have a post process do that for them
