[SOLVED] SHOW SECTION_START

I'm trying to use conditional HTML on a form and I have either managed to break it so that it works when it shouldn't or I have broken it when it should as it is behaving differently on two sections of the same form.

This works:

<<IF BO.Attribute='A Value' THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
Some arbitrary text <<SECTION_END>>

But this is patchy:

<<IF Contact.CompanyName IS DEFINED THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
	<b>Company Name:</b> <<Contact.CompanyName>><br>
	<<SECTION_END>> 
<<IF Contact.NameGiven IS DEFINED THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
	<b>Given Name:</b> <<Contact.NameGiven>><br>
	<b>Family Name:</b> <<Contact.NameFamily>><br>
	<<SECTION_END>>

Specifically if Contact.NameGiven is defined then it shows correctly, but if Contact.CompanyName is defined then it just is just ignored in the HTML.

What I am trying to achieve is a summary record of a complex Wizard form with many conditional panels depending on selections made earlier in the process, hence if FieldA is Defined then show it etc etc

I've noticed that in certain places AIM's rule language is more constricted. I can't remember if the HTML cell is one of those places. You might try...

<<IF Contact.CompanyName<>'' THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>

But I also noticed that you have "<<<" for your first condition, and that may be causing the problem.

I'll give the <> a try. The examples that I gave are all hand typed for the forum (not the actual code I've used in AIM) so the typos are only here.

Nope that doesn't work either...

I've gone back to basics and tried just putting the Contact.CompanyName field in the HTML with no conditionality and it doesn't show at all when it is filled in, the console is showing the CompanyName as having having a value.

Gave that a go and again it shows the literal {CompanyName}

I vaguely remember a post from about 6 months ago about making sure that fields populated on a previous page of a wizard were passed to the next page in an editable state. I of course can't find that post now.

I seem to remember it requiring some page initiation

I put this in an HTML box of a RegularUser form and it worked as expected:

<<IF RegularUser.LoginName='admin' THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
this is admin: <<RegularUser.LoginName>><<SECTION_END>>
 
<<IF RegularUser.LoginName<>'admin' THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
this is an NOT admin: <<RegularUser.LoginName>> <<SECTION_END>>

You mentioned in your original post that your issue involves a wizard. I wonder if your issue is that the data you are trying to use / evaluate is not yet saved??

I use conditional HTML all the time in forms. I have found that <<IF BO.attrib <> '' or BO.attrib > 0 works well

I did wonder that Tom, but it works with other fields in the same BO under the same conditions.

I am at a loss.

The condition on the statement is:

<<IF Contact.ps_EntityType.Code=0 THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
<b>Company Name:</b> <<Contact.CompanyName>><br>
<<SECTION_END>> 
<<IF Contact.ps_EntityType.Code=1 THEN SHOW SECTION_START>>
<b>Given Name:</b> <<Contact.NameGiven>><br>
<b>Family Name:</b> <<Contact.NameFamily>><br>
<<SECTION_END>>

I know that the EntityType.Code is evaluating properly because the Company Name: is showing on the form and also because the Tomcat server has reports the EntityType.Code value:

I also know that the server has the CompanyName available because Tomcat registers:

But when I get to the section of the Form with the HTML on it the following is all that is displayed:

The label is part of the conditional HTML, so it is evaluating.

(Seems there is a limit to the number of attachments to a post)

The condition evaluates correctly with an EntityType.Code=1 (the evaluation is not the issue - see the Company Name label in earlier post).
