Am I using the LIST function wrong?

Latest V8 build
I have issues with 2 things:
1) Supposed to be a delimiter between list items (rows), and its ignoring it and jamming them all together (see pic below, field: theLists)
2) Works in an UPDATE rule (but wrong, per #1 above), which means I have to allocate a multi-hundred byte field to always store all lists a person is in, when I really want it to execute in an HTML display field.
The children field shows what I have in the HTML cell below it (the cell is showing blank).
The physical field under that shows how its ignoring the delimiter ( ' / ' ) between the logical rows.
Major bummer!
The table below that is the proof of the reference field. I know the reference correctly points to valid data.

Like you I would like to have a list display inside a HTML attribute just to display as plain text on a form...

no, it never worked.
I've used LIST in other places, but something simple like in this example just wouldn't work correctly.
I had to give up on it.

Hi jaymer - the below will work for you writing into an attribute with a / delimiter:

 parent.childlist=LIST_LINE(parent.child_link,' ','/','Name')
